Free shipping is one of the most-searched TCGplayer topics, and most of what you'll find is written for buyers. This one is for sellers: when you're allowed to offer it, how TCGplayer's $5 rule actually works, and whether it's worth doing on cards that sell for a quarter.
Who can offer free shipping
According to TCGplayer's seller help center (as of September 2026), Level 4 sellers can set their standard shipping rate to $0.00. Level 1–3 sellers have a set range for shipping prices — roughly $0.99 to $24.99 depending on product size — so $0 isn't available until you reach Level 4. The $5 rule
Free shipping on TCGplayer isn't free on every order. Orders under $5 from a single seller get a $1.49 shipping fee applied automatically, whatever the seller set. For orders of $5 and up, your own shipping settings apply. So when a Level 4 seller sets standard shipping to $0, buyers see "free shipping on orders over $5" from that store.
That rule is what makes free shipping workable: you're never shipping a single 10¢ card for nothing.
How to set it up
Confirm you're Level 4 in the Seller Portal.
Open your shipping settings and set the standard shipping rate for the relevant product sizes to $0.00.
Save, then view your storefront as a buyer would to confirm the free-over-$5 message shows.

Is it worth it?
Run the numbers on your typical order. A PWE costs you a stamp (plus the nonmachinable surcharge if it's rigid), a sleeve, a toploader, and an envelope. If most of your orders are $5–$15 in singles, that's a meaningful slice of the margin.
- Why sellers do it: free shipping makes your listings more competitive when buyers compare the total cost, and it can win cart-optimizer matches against sellers charging a dollar or two.
- Why sellers don't: on thin-margin singles, shipping is the margin. Some sellers raise prices slightly instead, which only works if your prices stay competitive.
- The middle path: keep a modest shipping price and compete on speed and packaging instead. Buyers remember cards that arrive fast and flat.
Free shipping doesn't change the tracking rules
